TOURNAMENT RULES
1. DATES: April 12-13, 19-20, 2008 At AMF Cascade Lanes

3. AVERAGES: It shall be each bowler’s responsibility to
verify the accuracy of their average whether originally submitted by the
bowler, the team captain, or others.
Failure to use the proper average or make corrections prior to or at the
time of bowling, shall disqualify the scores if the
submitted average is lower than the actual average. If the average that is submitted is higher
than the actual average, prize winnings will be based on the higher
average.
(a) Entrants shall use their highest book average for the 2006-07 season provided they have bowled 21 games or more, even if
bowled as a substitute.
(b) If entrant has no 2006-07 book average, they shall use their highest 2007 sanctioned summer average of 21 games or more.
(c)
If neither (a) nor (b) applies, entrant shall use their
highest average in a sanctioned league of 21 games or more as of
(d) If entrant does not qualify under (a), (b), or (c), they shall use
their highest current average in a sanctioned league of 15 games or more at the
time of their first tournament participation.
Verification of average to be used must be submitted at first time of
tournament participation.
(e) If none of the above apply, an average of
220 will be used.
4. TEAM CAPTAIN MUST CHECK IN 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO
BOWLING. Confirmation of time scheduled
to bowl shall be mailed to the team captain.
It will be the team captain’s responsibility to notify their teammates
of the scheduled times.
5. THIS TOURNAMENT WILL OFFER THREE DIVISIONS AS FOLLOWS:

4 PLAYER TEAM
EVENT: Teams will consist of four
bowlers who will bowl three games on one pair of lanes. A bowler may participate in the team events
as many times as he/she wishes, providing no more than two members are the same
on any 4 Player Team.

ALL EVENTS: Is based on the FIRST team event bowled,
added to your doubles and singles.
9. SUBSTITUTIONS: Allowed
when a replacement is necessary. If
possible, the Tournament Office should be advised of substitutions at least ONE
HOUR before scheduled bowling time, with the exception of an emergency. If the average of the substitute changes the
classification of the event, such event will be reclassified.
10. Any player or team arriving after the game has started will be
allowed to bowl, and the score will count beginning in the frame then being
bowled. A zero score will be given for
the frames missed.
11. ENTRANTS MUST BOWL IN THE ORDER THEY ARE LISTED ON THE ENTRY
FORM. A substitute shall take the place
in the lineup of the original entrant.
If an emergency arises in the team or doubles event, a substitute may
enter the game after it has started, and the combined scores will be used. Handicap will be adjusted accordingly.
12. Awards shall be presented to the highest scores in team, doubles,
singles, and all events in all divisions.
13. TIES: If there is a tie for
first place in any event, Co-champions will be declared and first and second
place money will be divided equally, and duplicate awards will be given.
14. The tournament director shall decide any questions not covered by
the rules.
15. The entrants whose names appear herein or their authorized
replacements hereby agree that the Greater Portland USBC, its officers and
agents, shall be liable only to the extent of returning the entry fees if and
when these entrants shall be prevented from bowling in the tournament through
delay, unexpected yet necessary schedule change, or premature termination
of the tournament, which may be brought
about by war, national emergency or emergencies or causes, relating thereto or
resulting from fires, strikes, lockouts, labor difficulties or other causes
beyond the control of the Greater Portland USBC.

17. Dress code. No Hats.
All contestants are reminded to use common sense when choosing apparel.
